Scumble

Privacy Policy

Effective October 12, 2026

In short

  • Your images and documents stay on your Mac, in the files you choose to open and save.
  • The developer does not collect, receive, or have access to any of them.
  • Scumble has no account, no ads, no analytics, and no third-party tracking.
  • Scumble makes no network connections of its own. The only time it involves Apple's servers is if you buy or restore Scumble Pro through the App Store.

Who this policy covers

This policy applies to Scumble (the "App") for Mac, created by Alexander Rohr (the "Developer").

Your images and documents

Scumble opens and saves only the files you pick in the Open and Save panels, and it can read and write only those files. Images, layers, and everything else you make stay in those files on your Mac, or wherever you choose to save them, such as a folder, an external drive, or iCloud Drive.

The App does not send your images anywhere, and the Developer cannot see them. Undo history is kept in memory while a document is open and is not saved to disk.

Clipboard, printing, and importing from your devices

  • Clipboard. When you copy or cut, the image is placed on the macOS clipboard, where other apps you paste into can read it, and Scumble reads the clipboard when you paste.
  • Printing. Printing uses the standard macOS print system.
  • Import from iPhone or iPad. This uses macOS Continuity Camera to send a photo or scan from your own device to your Mac. The transfer is handled by Apple's system software between your devices, not by the Developer.
  • iCloud Drive. If you save a document to iCloud Drive, it is synced by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy.

Purchases

Scumble is free to download. Scumble Pro is a one-time in-app purchase that unlocks extra features. It is bought, restored, and checked by Apple through the App Store, so the App only learns whether your Apple Account owns it. The Developer does not receive your payment information, your name, or your Apple Account details.

Information collected automatically

The App does not collect usage statistics, device identifiers, IP addresses, or location, and it does not include any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking software. It does not make network connections of its own.

If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in macOS settings (System Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements), Apple may provide the Developer with anonymous crash reports and performance data. You can turn this off in the same place.

Settings stored on your Mac

macOS keeps ordinary app data on your Mac for Scumble, such as window positions and the Open Recent list. This stays on your Mac and is not shared with the Developer.

Keeping and deleting your information

Your files stay where you saved them until you delete them. Because the Developer never receives your information, there is nothing held by the Developer to delete.

Links to other sites

This website may link to other websites. Those sites are not operated by the Developer, and their own privacy policies apply.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
