Scumble

Terms & Conditions

Effective October 12, 2026

These terms apply to Scumble (the "App") for Mac, created by Alexander Rohr (the "Developer"). By downloading or using the App, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

These terms supplement Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement, which also applies to your use of the App.

Your work is yours, and stored by you

You keep all rights to the images you create or edit with the App, and the Developer claims no rights to them. Scumble saves your work only to the files you choose. It does not sync, back up, or store copies for you, so keep your own backups of anything important.

Scumble Pro

Scumble is free to download and use. Scumble Pro is an optional one-time in-app purchase, not a subscription, that unlocks additional features such as effects, advanced adjustments, additional selection tools, gradients, saving with layers, additional file formats, and very large images. The Developer may add features to either tier over time.

  • Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm a purchase.
  • You can restore the purchase on another Mac signed in to the same Apple Account with Restore Purchase.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies.

Files you made with Scumble Pro features, such as a Scumble file with layers, can still be opened without Pro. Saving changes to them in those formats needs Pro.

Using the App

The App is licensed to you, not sold, for your personal or business use on Macs you own or control, as allowed by Apple's license agreement. You are responsible for having the right to edit and share any images you open with the App.

Acceptable use

You agree to use the App only for lawful purposes. You agree not to copy, modify, reverse engineer, or attempt to extract the source code of the App, or to create derivative works from it, except as allowed by law.

Intellectual property

The App and its design, software, artwork, and icon are owned by the Developer and protected by intellectual property laws. The Scumble name and icon may not be used without permission.

Internet connection

Scumble works entirely offline. An internet connection is needed only to buy or restore Scumble Pro through the App Store.

Third-party services

The App relies on features provided by Apple, such as macOS, Continuity Camera, printing, and iCloud Drive. Those services are governed by Apple's own terms and privacy policies.

Disclaimer of warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. The Developer does not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that files you create or open with it will always be saved, readable, or complete.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Developer is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of files, data, or work, arising from your use of or inability to use the App.

Changes to the App and these terms

The Developer may update, change, or stop offering the App or its features at any time. These terms may also be updated from time to time, and changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Continuing to use the App after changes are posted means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by applicable law. Any disputes arising under these terms are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts in the relevant territory.
