Why BudgetXP+

Twenty years in the making

Twenty years ago, I wrote a Windows desktop app so my wife and I could track our spending and set money aside for a rainy day. It worked, but only at the computer. A purchase made at the store had to be remembered and entered later.

BudgetXP+ is the fix for that: a budget that lives in your pocket, so a transaction gets logged the moment it happens. BudgetXP+ Desktop came next, syncing over iCloud so our accounts, budgets, and transactions stay in step everywhere we go: the best of both worlds.

Privacy

Your money stays yours

BudgetXP+ has no account to create and no servers of its own. Your accounts and transactions are stored on your device and sync through your own iCloud, so they're available on your iPhone, iPad, and Mac. BudgetXP+ never sees them.

Face ID or Touch ID can lock the app every time it opens.

Version 1.6 October 7, 2026

  • On iPad, the account sidebar now shows a badge with how many recurring bills and paychecks are due for each account.
  • Due Today now stays pinned above your transactions for the selected account, so the Post buttons are always in view.
  • Every recurring bill and paycheck now belongs to an account. Older ones without an account are assigned when you edit them, and deleting an account also removes its recurring items.
  • Bug fixes and polish.
